Our Services

We build for homeowners and for businesses. On the residential side that means driveways, patios, outdoor kitchens and the outdoor living spaces around them. On the commercial side it means sidewalks, curbs, ADA ramps, slabs and foundations, poured and finished around a building that has to stay open while we work. Concrete is our specialty, and carpentry, steel and finish work are all in house, so one contract covers the whole job.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about how we work, what things cost, and what Pacific Northwest weather means for your project.

Are you licensed, bonded, and insured in Washington?

Yes. OG Contracting Inc. is registered with the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries under contractor registration OGCONCI799MM, and we carry the bond and liability insurance the state requires. You can verify any Washington contractor's status yourself at lni.wa.gov, and we'd encourage you to check ours and anyone else you're considering.

What areas do you serve?

We're based in Federal Way and work throughout the greater Seattle–Tacoma area, including Tacoma, Seattle, Kent, Auburn, Puyallup, Renton, Des Moines, Burien, and Lakewood. If you're near that area but not on the list, call us and we'll tell you honestly whether it makes sense.

Do you charge for estimates?

No. Estimates are free. We come out, look at the site, talk through what you want, and give you a written proposal with the scope and price laid out. Nothing on our website is a quote. Every job gets priced after we've actually seen the property.

What determines the cost of a concrete project?

Square footage is only part of it. The bigger drivers are site access (can a truck reach it, or does everything get wheelbarrowed), how much excavation and base prep is needed, whether existing concrete has to be demolished and hauled off, thickness and reinforcement required for the use, the finish you choose, and whether drainage work is needed. A flat, accessible driveway replacement and a sloped backyard patio with drainage issues can be the same square footage and very different prices.

How long before I can walk or drive on new concrete?

Foot traffic is generally fine after 24 to 48 hours. For vehicles, we ask you to wait at least 7 days, and for heavier vehicles or RVs, closer to 28 days. Concrete reaches roughly 70% of its strength in the first week and continues curing for about a month. Driving on it early is one of the most common causes of premature cracking, so it's worth the wait.

Can you pour concrete during a Pacific Northwest winter?

Yes, with the right precautions. Cold weather concreting is standard practice. We adjust the mix, protect the pour with insulated blankets, and monitor temperatures so it cures properly. Steady rain during the finishing window is the real problem, not cold, because water on the surface weakens it. We watch the forecast and will move a pour by a day rather than rush it. If a job genuinely shouldn't be poured that week, we'll tell you.

Why does drainage matter so much here?

Because we get roughly three feet of rain a year and a lot of clay soil. Water that sits under a slab or behind a retaining wall is what causes heaving, settling, and wall failure. Base prep, compaction, and drainage are the parts you can't see once the job is done, and they're the parts that decide whether the work lasts five years or thirty.

What's the difference between stamped, stained, and exposed aggregate finishes?

Stamped concrete is pressed with textured mats while still wet to look like stone, brick, or wood plank. Stained concrete uses acid or water-based stain to add color and depth, and can be combined with stamping. Exposed aggregate washes the top layer of cement off to reveal the stone in the mix, giving a natural, high-traction surface that hides wear well. Broom finish is the plain, practical option and the most affordable. Each has different cost, maintenance, and slip-resistance tradeoffs, and we'll show you examples and talk through which suits your use.

Do you handle permits?

It depends on the jurisdiction and the scope. Some work, like replacing a driveway in kind, often doesn't require a permit, while retaining walls above a certain height, structural work, and anything touching the right-of-way usually does. We'll tell you up front what your project needs and who's pulling it, and that gets written into the contract so there's no confusion later.

Do you work on insurance claims?

Yes. We handle repair and reconstruction work on insurance claims and coordinate directly with your carrier, adjuster, or public adjuster, providing documentation, photos, and a detailed scope. Note that our coverage is concrete and general contracting; we don't handle water damage mitigation itself, though we regularly work alongside the companies that do.

How long will my project take?

A straightforward driveway or patio is typically a few days of work spread over a week or so, since forming, pouring, and curing each need their own time. Larger projects such as outdoor kitchens, retaining walls and multi-phase landscape work run longer and depend on materials and inspections. We give you a realistic schedule in the proposal, and if weather or a supplier pushes it, you'll hear about it from us rather than wondering.

Who will I actually be dealing with?

Omar, the owner. He's the project manager and single point of contact on every job we take, from the first site visit through the final walkthrough. We're a small, second-generation family crew, which means you're not handed off to a rotating cast of salespeople and coordinators.
